Perfect spring weather

We've been having some lovely weather this week. Nothing quite so stunning as the crystal-clear skies two Sundays ago when we went to Holcombe, admittedly, but just lovely warm and largely sunny spring days. And it's not even been too cold at nights. We had a slight overnight frost one night at the start of the week, but the overnight temperatures haven't dipped down too low at all the past few nights, despite the clear skies. This photograph of Gemma on Ex Con on Tuesday morning gives you an idea of the conditions. We keep being told that we are in a drought, but I'd take that with a pinch of salt. We're very far from being able to jettison our wellingtons here, and out on the Heath the ground is just good, rather than any faster than that. We've been using Railway Land grass for galloping over the past couple of weeks. A fortnight ago the ground was rather softer than one ideally like, but most recently (ie yesterday, when this picture of Zarosa and Wasabi was taken through Grand Liaison's ears) the ground was pretty much perfect - and the bits of dead brown grass are just post-winter-frost-killed grass, rather than grass which is withering through lack of water. So we've quite a way to go before drought conditions are prevailing.
