Here's hoping

Dear old Cottesloe ran another very good race on Friday night at Wolverhampton.  Third, fourth, fifth and sixth crossed the line as one, and we dead-heated for fourth, a head behind the third.  He's now run eight times for this stable and been in the first four every time, and one can't ask for more than that, particularly as those eight runs include two wins.  It was, needless to say, the usual story in this three-year-olds-and-upwards handicap: there were two three-year-olds in the field, and one of them, the Luca Cumani-trained Frenzified, won.

We're now facing up to running three horses this week: Indira at Catterick tomorrow (Tuesday), Russian Link at Stratford on Thursday and Blue Sea Of Ibrox at Newmarket on Friday.  None would have an outstanding chance but one would hope that each would have some sort of chance.  Russian Link hasn't run since December, but she ought to be fairly fit, and she certainly hasn't forgotten how to jump, as this photograph of her schooling with Tim Donworth up at the Links on Sunday morning shows.  Blue Sea Of Ibrox has come out of her win last week in excellent form, and she might be the best chance of them, but then again the competition at Newmarket will be a lot tougher than it was in that maiden race at Pontefract.  Here's hoping for three good runs.
